“골로새서 3:22-24절 묵상”

“22 종들아 모든 일에 육신의 상전들에게 순종하되 사람을 기쁘게 하는 자와 같이 눈가림만 하지 말고 오직 주를 두려워하여 성실한 마음으로 하라 23 무슨 일을 하든지 마음을 다하여 주께 하듯 하고 사람에게 하듯 하지 말라 24 이는 기업의 상을 주께 받을 줄 아나니 너희는 주 그리스도를 섬기느니라”

“무슨 일을 하든지 마음을 다하여 주께 하듯 하라”

선교하러 가서는 가끔 드는 생각이 있다.
왜 나는 이런 일을 하고 있나?
바쁜 시간을 내고
피곤한 몸을 이끌고 말씀을 가르치고
세미나에 참여한 사람들 점심을 대접하고
멀리서 온 사람들에게 교통비와 숙소를 제공하고
그들이 더 공부할 수 있도록 장학제도를 만들고
그렇게 졸업한 그들이 목회하는 교회를 건축해 주고
한 사람이라도 말씀으로 깨어나기 위하여 책을 만들어 무료로 보급하고
매주 그들을 위하여 기도하는 이유는 무엇인가?

이유는 단 한 가지
주님이 그들을 사랑하신다는 것을 알기 때문이다.
그래서 주님을 섬기듯 그들을 섬기고 있다.

그렇다
인간을 보고 섬기는 일에는 할 수 없는 것이 많다.
그러나 주님을 섬긴다고 할 때는 못 할 것이 없다.
그리고 그 삶엔 주님의 칭찬이 주어진다.
무슨 일을 하든지 사람보고 섬기지 말고, 주님 보고 섬기자!

“Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord”
Reflection on Colossians 3:22-24
“Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of
eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever
you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you
will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
Sometimes, when I go to missions, I find myself wondering, “Why am I doing this?”
To teach them the Word, I carve out time from my busy schedule, put my exhausted
body to work, give lunch for the seminar attendees, provide transportation fees and
boarding for those who live far away, establish a scholarship foundation to further their
education, build the church for those who graduate, make books and distribute them for
free, and pray for them every week. Why do I do this? There is only one reason. It is
because I know that the Lord loves them. So, I serve them like I would serve the Lord.
There are many limitations as we serve when our focus is on people.
But there is nothing we cannot do when we serve the Lord.
And our lives will be filled with commendations from the Lord.
Thus, whatever we do, let us not look to men but look solely to God as we serve!
