한국 목회자 멘토링 세미나에 참석한 울산에서 오신 목사님의 간증

할렐루야! 울산 OO교회에 김 목사입니다.
하나님께 감사와 영광을 돌립니다. 저는 이번 세미나를 완전히 잘못 알고 왔습니다. 형님 같은 권유훈 목사님께서 가서 좀 쉬었다 오자 해서 2박 3일 시간을 내게 되었고, 이번 주간 우리 다섯 식구가 오래전에 시간을 맞추어서 휴가를 일주일 갖게 되었는데, 와 있는 내내 아내와 아이들의 따가운 요청(?)을 받았습니다. 빨리 내려오라고.

저도 첫 시간에는 아, 내가 잘못 왔구나, 오늘 밤이라도 다시 돌아가야 하나 싶었는데, 하나님께서 뭔가가 있어서 나를 이렇게라도 해서 이끄셨지 않을까 싶어 둘째 날도, 끝까지 참석하게 되었습니다. 정말 신대원 졸업 이후 무수한 세미나와 집회에 참석했는데, 이렇게 빡세게 강의시간 꽉꽉 채워서 들은 것은 처음이었습니다.

이종식 목사님의 강의, 처음부터 끝까지 다 적었습니다. 뉴욕 베이사이드장로교회도 처음 들었고, 이종식 목사님도 처음 뵈었습니다. 더 인상 깊은 것은 말없이 뒤에서 눈을 감고 기도하시는 사모님과 열심히 움직이시는 스텝들, 자기 돈 들여 미국에서 여기까지 오셔서 협력하시는 모습을 보며, 와 이게 제자훈련의 힘이구나 느끼게 되었습니다.

저는 울산 OO교회 담임목회 30 년 차입니다. 인정하고 싶지 않았고 또 잘 깊이 느끼지 못했는데, 강의를 계속 들으면서 나 자신이 많이 변했구나, 나 많이 그동안 타락했구나 하는 것을 고백하지 않을 수 없었습니다. 힘으로 하려고 했고, 권위로 누르려고 했고, 기도와 말씀으로 산다고 생각했지만 영역도 영권도 많이 잃어버렸구나 싶어, 마음이 아팠고, 나 스스로가 불쌍하다고 느꼈습니다.

기도하지 않으면 결코 다가설 수 없고, 뛰어넘을 수 없는 담을 저분은 저렇게 넘었구나, 당료도 넘고 심장병도 넘고 뉴욕의 담도 벽도 다 넘었구나 싶어, 다시 저도 목회 초심으로 돌아가려고 마음을 먹고 있습니다

지금 가족들이 휴가로 여수에 가서 난리입니다. 빨리 안 가면 저 맞아 죽습니다. 혹시 가는 길이 여수거나 그 부근인 목사님 계시면 저 좀 태우고 가주시면 고맙겠습니다.

Korea Pastoral Mentoring Seminar Testimony from a pastor in Ulsan:

Hallelujah! I give thanks and glory to God. When I first attended the seminar, I misunderstood its purpose. A pastor who is like an older brother to me suggested that we attend the seminar to get some rest. So, I cleared my schedule and went to the seminar. This week happened to be our family vacation, which had been scheduled a while ago. So, during my time at the seminar, my wife and children repeatedly urged me to return quickly. During the first session, I thought, "Ah, I made a mistake coming here. Should I go back home tonight?" However, trusting that God must have guided me to the seminar for a reason, I stayed for the second day, and stayed until the very end. To be honest, I have attended countless seminars and rallies since I graduated from seminary. But this was the only seminar that was packed with lectures. I took notes on everything Reverend Lee said, from start to finish. It was my first time hearing about The Korean Presbyterian Church of Bayside, and I'd never met Reverend Lee before the seminar. What was even more impressive was that his wife silently prayed with her eyes closed in the back of the room while the staff moved about diligently. They came all the way from America at their own expense to serve us. This made me realize, "Wow, this is the power of discipleship training." I've been the senior pastor of Y Church in Ulsan for the past 30 years. At first, I didn't want to admit it, but as I kept listening to the lectures, I couldn't help but confess that I had become complacent over time. I tried to do things my own way and push things forward using my authority. And although I thought I had lived in prayer and by the Word, sadly I realized that my spiritual state and leadership position had weakened over time.
I realized that Reverend Lee overcame impossible obstacles with much prayer. He has had to deal with diabetes, heart disease, and all the walls and barriers of doing ministry in New York. So, my resolution is to remember the heart I first had when I started ministry. Right now, my family is in Yeosu on vacation, and they're really upset that I'm not with them. If I don't go quickly, this might be the end of me. If there is any pastor who attended the seminar going to Yeosu or nearby, I would be grateful for a ride. Immanuel, Shalom!
