“지난날을 돌아보며 결심하게 되는 일” - February 28, 2024

지난 세월 돌아보니 참 많은 사람을 만난 것 같다.
혈연으로 만난 형제들
친인척 관계로 만나야 했던 사람들
어려서는 동네 친구들과 학교 친구들
장성해서는 신학교 동기가 있고
노회에서 만난 목사님들이 있고
전도사 시절에 만났던 성도님들이 있고
목사로서 목회 중에 만난 분들이 있다.
그렇게 많은 사람들을 만나면서 끝까지 친분을 유지하는 사람들이 있는가 하면 중간에 끊어진 경우도 많다.
집을 이사 가면 동네 친구들은 끊기고
학교를 졸업하는 순간 연락이 두절되는 동기들도 허다하고
이민 가면 친인척 관계도 끊이는 경우가 일어난다.
또한 노회가 바뀌면 더 이상 만날 수 없는 목사님들도 있다.
그러나 그럼에도 끊기지 않는 사람들이 있다.
어려움 속에서도 나와 함께 했던 사람들
함께 기도했던 사람들
함께 어려운 상황을 극복하며 하나님 나라를 세운 사람들이다.
그들은 언제나 내 마음에 영웅이 되어 축복의 대상이 되고 있다.
인생 후반전에 결심하게 된다.
지금 내 곁에 있는 사람들과
어려워도 함께 할 것이고
함께 기도할 것이고
함께 문제들을 극복해 나가며 하나님 나라를 세워 갈 것이다.
주님을 뵐 그날까지…

Looking back at my life, I truly met a lot of people.
I met my siblings through bloodline, relatives through family, neighborhood friends from my childhood, seminary colleagues, pastors in the presbytery, congregants from when I was an associate pastor, and many people as a pastor while doing ministry.
While I keep in touch with many of those I have met, I have lost contact with many others.
When I was young, I would get disconnected from friends when they moved away.
After I graduated from seminary, I would lose touch with some of my colleagues.
Even with relatives, it would be difficult to keep in touch once they emigrated.
And when presbyteries changes, I would not be able to cross paths with some of the pastors.
However, there are those who stay despite all these odds.
They are those who have gone through dark times with me, those who have prayed with me, and those who have overcome tribulations and built God’s Kingdom together with me.
They are the heroes of my heart and a blessing.
And so, in the second half of my life, I made a decision.
Even if it might be difficult, I will be there for those who are by my side.
I will pray and overcome struggles with them.
And as I do so, I will continue to build God’s Kingdom until the day I see the Lord.
