“조급하지 말아야 할 이유”

성경 디모데 후서 3장은 말세가 되면 사람들이 조급해진다고 말씀하고 있다.
‘조급하다’는 단어인 ‘프로페테이스(reckless)’는 말과 행동이 경솔하고, 부주의하다는 뜻을 가진 단어이다.
그러니까 깊은 생각이나 고민 없이 말을 하고, 행동하는 하는 사람들의 행동을 ‘프로페테이스’라 한다.

또 다른 성경인 잠언 29:20절은 조급에 대하여 다음과 같이 말씀하고 있다.
“네가 언어에 조급한 사람을 보느냐 그보다 미련한 자에게 오히려 바랄 것이 있느니라.”
이 말씀에서 미련한 자라는 것은 이치에 맞지 않게 행동하는 사람을 말한다.
어떤 면으로 보면 바보같은 짓을 하는 것이다.

그런데 성경은 이렇게 미련한 사람보다 말을 조급하게 함부로 말하는 사람에게 희망이 없다고 말씀하고 있다.

사람이 함부로 말하는 이유는 무엇일까?
하나님의 뜻을 모르고 함부로 판단하기 때문이다.
대부분 하나님의 뜻은 우리가 판단하기 어렵게 이루어진다. 그리고 시간이 걸릴 때가 있다.

그러므로 오늘 일어나는 일 하나하나를 가지고 판단하려 한다면 하나님의 뜻을 알 길이 없다.
단지 하나님의 뜻을 알기 위해서는 조급하지 말고 인내로 우리의 입을 조심해야 한다.

성경은 말에 의하여 사람이 열매를 맺는다고 말씀하고 있다.

새해에는 무엇보다 말을 조심하자.
조급함을 버리고 하나님이 자기의 뜻을 이루어 가시고 있음을 믿고 범사에 감사하자!
범사에 하나님을 인정하자!

“The reason we should not be hasty”

In the Bible, 2 Timothy 3 says that people will become more hasty in the last days.
This is described as “propeteis” or reckless, which means to act and speak rashly and carelessly.
Those who speak and act without much thought are called reckless or “proteteis”.

Also, Proverbs 29:20 describes someone who is hasty by stating, “Do you see a man who is hasty in his words?
There is more hope for a fool than for him.”
A fool is someone who acts in unreasonable or irrational ways.
Hence, he acts foolishly.
But the Bible tells us that there is even less hope for those who are hasty than the foolish.
Why do people speak rashly?
They do so because they judge even though they do not know God’s will.
Most of the time, God's will is accomplished in ways that are difficult for us to understand.
And sometimes, it takes time.
Thus, if we try to judge based on single events that happen today, we will never know God’s will.
We should not be hasty to judge or know God’s will. Instead, we should be careful what we say.
The Bible says that we bear fruit through our words.
This new year, let us especially be careful with our words.
Let us not be hasty but give thanks in all things and believe that God is accomplishing His will.
May we acknowledge the Lord at all times!
