“한해를 돌아보며 새해를 맞이하는 마음”

벌써 이 해의 마지막 주일을 맞고 있다. 뒤를 돌아보니 짧은 시간이었음에도 많은 일이 전개되었다.

무엇보다 새롭게 감사하게 된 것은 수십 년 전에 기도했던 일이 어느새 응답되어 영국에 가서 집회를 인도했고 내년 2월에 런던에서 제자 훈련을 위한 목회자 멘토링 세미나 일정이 정해졌다.

그리고 교회가 필요한 부지를 사게 될 것 같다. 물론 모든 순서가 내 생각대로 된 것은 아니었다. 그러나 하나님의 때에 가장 적절하게 이루어졌다.

새해를 기도로 맞이하려고 한다. 기도한 것은 수십 년이 흘러서도 응답되어 이루어져 갈 것을 믿기 때문이다. 신앙 생활하며 느끼는 것은 거창한 기도보다는 순간순간 떠오르는 거룩한 소원을 위해 기도하는 것이 많은 일을 일으킨다는 것이다. 유럽의 한 타락한 거리에서 내뱉은 짧은 기도, 매주 본당에 들어가 20년이 넘게 옆집을 보며 한 기도가 드디어 이루어지려고 하고 있다. 거룩한 소원은 하나님이 주시는 것이므로 새해에도 많은 기도의 소원을 주시기를 기도한다.

새해에도 순간순간 감동이 올 때마다 어디서나 기도하며 살 것이다. 운전할 때도, 길을 걸을 때도, 일터에서도, 사람들과 대화할 때도 … 새해에 새롭게 펼쳐질 일들을 기대한다.

My reflections of the past year as I anticipate the New Year

It is already the last Sunday of the year. The year felt short; yet, many things happened. Above all else, I have a new reason to be grateful.

God answered my prayer from decades ago. I already led a revival in the United Kingdom, And the Pastoral Mentoring Seminar for discipleship training has been set to happen in February next year in London. Not only that, but it seems that our church will be acquiring new land that we need. Of course, not everything went according to my plan. But God accomplished His will at His perfect time. I plan to start the New Year with prayer, for I believe that even decades-old prayers will be answered. Throughout my journey as a Christian, I realized that more than prayers that are eloquent, it is prayers that convey a holy desire that accomplish great things.

A short prayer that I uttered in the broken streets of Europe And the prayer that I prayed over twenty years for the building next to our church are both being answered. Holy desires are given by God. So, I pray that He gives me many more holy desires in the New Year as well. In the New Year, I will continue to pray whenever the Lord moves my heart. When I’m driving, walking on the street, working, talking with people... I look forward to the things that will unfold in the New Year.
