중보기도는 하늘과 땅을 움직입니다.

「하늘과 땅을 움직이는 중보기도」라는 책을 쓴 더치 쉬츠는 다음과 같은 말을 하였습니다. “중보기도는 예수 그리스도의 사역의 확장이며 교회가 세상을 이길 능력을 하늘로부터 받는 통로다. 하나님께서 우리의 중보기도와 믿음을 통해 이 땅을 위한 계획을 결정하신다. 그러므로 하나님의 약속을 성취하기 위해서는 우리가 담당해야 할 중보기도라는 책임이 있다. 특별히 중보기도는 하나님이 기뻐하시고 사용하시는 기도다. 하나님은 단독으로 세상을 통치하시고 다스릴 수 있다. 그러나 당신의 자녀 된 성도들의 기도를 통해 역사하시기를 기뻐하신다. 그래서 세상을 변화시키고 통치하시는 도구로 성도들의 중보기도를 사용하신다. 그러므로 중보기도에는 능력이 있다. 세상을 변화시키는 하나님의 능력이 있다. 이런 말이 있지 않은가? “우리가 기도하지 않으면 우리가 일하고, 우리가 기도하면 하나님이 일하신다.” 그렇다! 하나님께 죄송한 표현이지만, 기도는 하나님을 움직이는 놀라운 것이다. 하나님이 우리 기도를 듣고 역사해 주신다는 것이다. 우리가 도저히 할 수 없는 것을 하나님께서 해 주신다. 마치 지렛대의 원리와 같다. 지렛대를 사용하면 힘이 적지만 큰 것을 움직일 수 있다. 기도는 성도에게 주어진 지렛대이다.”
사랑하는 성도님들, 우리는 중보기도를 통해 많은 일들을 할 수 있습니다. 시간과 공간을 초월해서 일할 수 있습니다. 나는 할 수 없는 연약한 존재지만, 하나님을 통해서 할 수 있습니다. 그러면 구체적으로 어떤 중보기도를 드려야 할까요? 먼저 나라를 위해 기도할 때 역사가 벌어집니다. 딤전. 2:2절입니다. “임금들과 높은 지위에 있는 모든 사람을 위하여 하라 이는 우리가 모든 경건과 단정함으로 고요하고 평안한 생활을 하려 함이라” 그리고 전도의 문이 열리기 위해 기도할 때 역사가 벌어집니다.
또한 다른 사람의 병 낫기를 위해 기도할 때 역사가 일어납니다. 마. 8:5~13절에는 백부장의 하인 치유 사건이 나옵니다. 그의 하인이 중풍에 걸려 꼼짝 못 합니다. 백부장이 예수님께 나아가 기도합니다. 그런데 멀리 떨어져 있던 하인의 중풍이 치유됩니다. 이처럼 중보기도는 했다 하면 남이 은혜를 받고, 남이 나를 위해 기도해도 내가 은혜받을 수 있는 신기한 것입니다. 이 시간 우리가 기도할 때 나라가 사는 일이 벌어지고 전도의 문이 열린 것이며 사랑하는 가족과 친지들의 병이 고침을 받게 될 것을 믿습니다.

 

“Intercessory prayer moves heaven and earth”

A pastor named Dutch Sheets wrote the following paraphrased passage in his book Intercessory Prayer— How God can use your Prayers to Move Heaven and Earth:
Intercessory prayer is an extension of the ministry of Christ Jesus, and it is the vessel through which the Church receives from God the ability to overcome the world. God determines His plans for this world through our faith and intercessory prayers. Thus, in order to fulfill God’s promise, we have the responsibility of intercessory prayer. In particular, intercessory prayer pleases God and is used by Him. God can rule the world by Himself, but it pleases Him to work through the prayers of His children. That is why He uses the intercessory prayers of His believers to rule over and change the world. Therefore, there is power in intercessory prayer—God’s power to transform the world. There is a saying that goes, “When we don’t pray, we work. But when we pray, God works.” That’s right! Prayer is amazing because it prompts God to move. God hears our prayers and works in response to our prayers. God does what is impossible for us to do. It is like the principle of a lever. Using a lever allows us to move something big with little force. Prayer is the lever given to believers.
Beloved Church, we can do many things that surpass time and space through intercessory prayer. We cannot do anything because we are weak, but we can do all things through God. Then what should we pray for when we do intercessory prayer? First, God does wondrous works when we pray for our country. 1 Timothy 2:2 states, “ for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” Also, God works in amazing ways when we pray for Him to open the door to evangelism. Not only that, but He answers when we pray for the healing of others. Matthew 8:5-13 tells us how the centurion’s servant was healed. The servant was unable to move because he was paralyzed. The centurion came forward to Jesus and prayed. Then, his servant was healed, although he was far away. Likewise, intercessory prayer is amazing because when we intercede for others, they will be blessed; and when others pray for us, we will be blessed. I believe that when we pray, our nation will rise up, the doors of evangelism will be opened, and our beloved family and friends will be healed.
