앞날을 지혜롭게 사는 길

나는 전도사 시절 많은 일을 감당하는 목사님들을 보며 한 생각에 잠기곤 했다.
저분들은 참 능력이 많아 모든 일을 저렇게 잘해 나가는데 나는 앞날을 어떻게 헤쳐 나갈 수 있을까?
나는 설교 한편도 준비하기 어려운데 어떻게 일주일에 설교를 7번 이상을 감당할 수 있을까?
나는 지금 눈앞에 있는 문제 하나도 해결하기 어려운데 놀라운 비전을 갖고 일을 이루는 분들을 보며 위대하다고 생각되었다.
아직 가보지 않은 길 앞에 있는 사람처럼 마냥 내 앞날이 궁금했고 의문으로 가득 차 있었다.
그리고 막상 목회를 시작하려 하니 역시 미숙한 점이 하나 둘이 아니었다.
그래서 산에 올라 금식기도 하며 나는 어떻게 목회해야 하냐고 울부짖었다.
하나님은 간단한 답을 주셨다.
내가 성경을 통해 너에게 시키는 대로 하면 된다.
나는 그날부터 그렇게 살았다.
하나님이, 말씀이 하라는 것은 능력만큼 최선을 다했고 하지 말라고 하는 것은 하지 않았다.
그렇게 살다 보니 이상한 일이 일어났다.
모든 것이 미숙한데도 잘되는 것이었다.
그리고 한 일이 끝나면 반드시 그 다음에 할 일이 생각났다.
그렇게 33년을 지내며 느끼게 된 것은 내가 위대하다고 생각한 목회자들이 한 일을 하고 있다는 것이었다.
언제나 새로운 생각 속에 새로운 길을 개척하며 살고 있다.
그리고 이제는 앞날을 염려하는 목회자들에게 걱정하지 않고 사는 길을 전수해 줄 수 있게 되었다.
“앞날이 보이지 않아 불투명하지만 하나님이 시키는 대로만 하면 된다.
미숙한 우리들을 하나님은 말씀 가운데 평탄하고 형통한 길로 인도하신다.
그러니 앞날을 걱정하지 말라.
그가 지혜로, 능력으로 인도하시리라!”

The way to live your life wisely.

When I was young serving the church as an assistant minister, I
contemplated a thought as I watched pastors who were doing great work.
They are capable of doing everything that they do and successful but how
can I get through my future?
It’s hard for me to prepare even a single sermon, but how can I preach more
than seven sermons in a week?
I could barely handle a single problem I faced, so I esteemed highly of
pastors who have accomplished great works they had envisioned.
I was full of curiosities and doubts about my future as if a man standing on
a path where he had never traveled before.
And as I tried to start the ministry; I noticed my shortcomings, not just one
or two, but too many.
So, I went up to the mountain high to pray, fasted and cried out to God
asking how to start this ministry.
Then, God gave me a simple answer.
You just need to do whatever I tell you to do which is written in the bible.
So, I followed that direction from that day on.
I’ve done my best to keep up with the things which the Word told me to do
and did not do what the Word told me not to do.
Then something strange happened to my life.
Everything was going well although nothing was perfect.
And when I finished one thing, I knew what to do next.
What I realized after 33 years of my ministry is that I’m doing the works of
pastors whom I used to admire of.
I’m always cultivating a new path with new ideas.
And now I can pass down my know-hows to pastors who are full of worries,
how not worry about the future.
“Although the future in unforeseeable, we just need to do what God tells us
to do.
God will lead us, the imperfect human, in His Word to prosperous and
successful way.
Thus, do not worry about our future.

By His Wisdom and Might, The Lord will lead you!”
