“우물 안의 개구리 신앙에서 벗어나는 길”

나는 성경을 배우기 전에 내가 꽤 많이 성경을 알고 있는 것 같이 생각했다.
그러나 성경을 배우면 배울수록 모르는 것이 많다는 것을 깨달아 갔다.
그러면서 잘 알지 못하던 시절 함부로 말했던 것이 너무 창피한 적이 한둘이 아니었다.
잘 모르면서 남이 하는 말을 비판했고 이상한 신앙을 가졌다고 생각했다.
그러나 하나 둘 알아가고 체험하다 보니 내가 이상한 것이었다.
하나님을 경험하는 방법도 다양한데 나는 내가 아는 것이 다 라고 생각했다.
그래서 남의 경험을 무시하곤 했다.
예를 들면 방언하는 사람들을 이상한 눈으로 보았다.
그러나 내가 어느날 방언이 터지자 그들이 지극히 정상적인 사람으로 보였다.
기도의 능력도 마찬가지였다.
누군가 이렇게 기도의 응답을 받았다고 하면 색깔 있는 안경으로 보았다.
아니면 특이한 사람으로 보았다.
그러나 나의 기도가 응답되는 것을 보면서 그것은 지극히 평범한 일이 되었다.
이렇게 사람은 자기가 알고 있고 경험한 것만 다인 줄 알고 살 수 있다.
그래서 하나님에 대한 믿음도 자기가 경험한 범위 아래서 제한할 수 있다.
이런 것에서 벗어나기 위해서는 성경을 배우는 시간이 필요하다.
그리고 배운 대로 작게나마 살아보는 것이 중요하다.
그러면 새로운 세계를 발견하게 될 것이고 은혜의 삶을 누리게 될 것이다.

Before I learned the Word, I thought I knew a lot about the Scripture.
But the more I learned the Bible, I realized that there was a lot I did not yet know.
And so, I was ashamed of the numerous times I acted like I knew the Bible so well. Even though I did not know much, I criticized others and judged them by thinking that something was wrong about their faith. But the more I learned and the more experiences I gained, I realized that I was in the wrong. There are various ways to experience God, but I thought my way was the only way. So, at times I dismissed experiences other people had with God. For instance, I used to judge those who could speak in tongue. However, once I began to speak in tongue, I no longer thought badly about those who spoke in tongue. It was also like this with the power of prayer. When people said that their prayers were answered, I would look at them through colored lenses or think that they were definitely strange. But when my prayers were answered, it no longer seemed strange to me.

Like this, people think that what know and experience is all there is to know and experience. In this way, they can also limit their faith in God to the scope of their experiences. In order not to set such limitations, we need to take the time to learn the Bible. And it is important to live, even in small ways, according to what we have learned. Then, we will discover a whole new world and be blessed.
