“흐르는 물처럼”

흘러가는 물은 쉴 새 없이 한 방향으로 흐른다.
물론 앞을 막는 것들이 있다.
그러나 물은 멈추지 않고 흐른다.
앞을 막으면 잠시 쉬었다가 넘어가기도 하고 돌아가기도 한다.
그러다 보면 결국 목적지인 바다로 들어가게 된다.

하나님을 믿는 마음으로 산다는 것은 한 방향으로 흘러가는 물과 같다.
물론 가다 보면 앞을 막는 것이 있다.
그러면 잠시 멈출 때도 있지만 때가 차면 넘어가기도 하고 돌아가기도 한다.
그러다 보면 어느덧 우리의 목적지가 보인다.

어릴 때는 인생이 천천히 가고
청소년 때엔 배우는 일로 인생이 멈춘 것 같은 삶을 산다.
청년의 때는 강한 물결같이 파도를 치듯 어디를 향해 가는지 모르고 닥치는 대로 산다.
장년에 이르러서는 내가 어디로 가고 있는지 깨달으며 깊은 물결이 되어 서서히 흘러간다.
그리고 노년이 되면 풍성한 은혜의 바다로 들어간다.

이런 인생의 결과를 보며 나, 조급하게 살지 않고 물처럼 한 방향으로 흘러가는 삶을
살리라 결단해 본다.

“Like flowing water”

Flowing water
Flowing water moves in one direction without resting.
Of course, there are things that block its way.
But the water keeps moving.
When something is in its way, the water might pause for a moment before
flowing over or around it.
Then, eventually, it reaches the ocean.
Living by faith in God is like water that flows in one direction.
Of course, there might be obstacles in the way.
And there might be moments we stop to rest. But in time, we will go over or
around the impediments.
Then, before we know it, the destination will be in sight.
When we were young children, it might have felt like our life was slow-moving.
In our youth, we might have had to pause everything else to learn and study.
As young adults, we might have lived in confusion, not knowing which
direction to go. As adults, we become a steady current that knows which
direction to flow. And in our senior years, we enter the sea of abundant grace.
Based on this truth, I resolve to not rush through life but to live like water that
flows steadily in one direction.
