제6회 목회자 제자 훈련 세미나에 참석한 메릴랜드 큰빛제자교회 김현수 목사님의 간증

제6회 목회자 제자 훈련 세미나에 참석할 수 있는 은혜를 주신 하나님께 참 감사드립니다. 이종식 목사님을 비롯해 예수님의 마음으로 섬겨 주신 베이사이드장로교회에 감사 드립니다. 저는 동부 메릴랜드에서 큰빛제자교회를 섬기는 김현수 목사입니다.

2년 전에 멘토링 세미나에 참석하고, 많은 것들을 배우고 접목해서 하나님께서는 우리 교회에 너무나 큰 은혜를 내려 주셨습니다. 빈자리의 의자를 하나하나 붙들고 기도했는데, 하나님은 정말 기적같이 귀한 청년들을 한 명씩 보내주기 시작하셨고, 또 베이사이드장로교회에서 아름답게 섬겨주는 성도님들의 모습에 감동과 너무 큰 도전을 받아, 우희 교회에도 해외 선교사님 3분을 초청하여 섬기고 힘을 실어드리는 행복한 선교주일을 보냈습니다.

이번 강의 가운데 가장 와 닿았던 것은 3가지입니다.

첫째는 목자의 심정입니다. 강사 목사님께서 8명의 제자 반을 가르치고 준비한다면, 자신은 8,000명의 부흥회를 준비하는 자세로 임한다고 나누어 주셨습니다. 그 말씀이 저를 다시 한번 깨우쳐 주셔서 다시 마음을 가다듬고 하나님께 최선의 순종을 드리고, 성도님들을 위해 더 진심으로 아끼고 사랑해야 함을 깨우치게 되었습니다.

둘째는 사명을 다시 가다듬게 되었습니다. 제자 훈련반 강의 중 성경의 권위에 대해서 공부할 때, 성경의 목적을 이야기하면서, 성경을 영혼 구원을 위해 사용하라 라는 단순하고 본질적인 말씀이 와 닿았습니다. 그 동안 내가 너무 목회 사역, 설교 준비만을 생각했지, 정말 영혼 구원에 관한 갈망을 가지고 있었나? 다시금 돌아보면 한 영혼 한 영혼을 주님께로 돌이키는 데 말씀을 사용해야 함을 뉘우치고 회개하게 되었습니다.

마지막으로 세 번째는 무슨 일을 하든 하나님께 인정받기 위해 하라는 마음가짐이었습니다. 한 명을 섬겨도, 10명을 섬겨도, 100명을 섬겨도, 1,000명을 섬겨도, “하나님을 기쁘시게 하고, 하나님께 인정 받아야 한다, 사람 앞에 줄 서지 말고, 하나님 앞에 줄 서라”라는 본질의 말씀이 제 마음 가운데 다시 박혔습니다. 한편으로는 어떤 부분에는 제가 또 좋은 부분에 영향 받아 비슷한 마인드로 목회를 하고 있구나! 하며 힘이 되고 위로가 되는 부분도 있었습니다.

수고해 주신 이종식 목사님, 함께 만난 모든 목사님들과의 만남이 너무나 소중했고, 예수그리스도가 흥하고 나는 쇠하여야 하리라 는 세례요한의 정신을 가지고 앞으로도 계속해서 달려가도록 하겠습니다.

New York Light 6th Pastoral Discipleship Training Seminar testimony of a pastor from Maryland:
I am truly grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to attend the pastoral discipleship training seminar. My thanks go to Reverend Chong Shik Lee and the Korean Presbyterian Church of Bayside for serving me and the pastors with the heart of Christ.
Two years ago, I attended the Pastoral Mentoring Seminar. Since then, as Iapplied in ministry what I learned, God poured out much graceonmy church.I prayed over each empty chair in the church. And miraculously, God began to send people one by one to the church. Also, I was so deeply moved and challenged by the way the congregants at the Korean Presbyterian Church of Bayside served me and the pastors, my church also invited three overseas missionaries. My church and I served them and spent a joyful Sunday with them.
This discipleship training seminar was as impactful to me. There are three things I resonated with most during this seminar.
First, the heart of the shepherd. Reverend Lee shared that even if he is teaching and preparing for a discipleship training class of 8 people, he approaches it with the same mindset as preparing for a revival of 8,000 people. That message reawakened my heart. I realized that my focus should be on giving my best to God. And I was reminded that I must cherish and love my congregation more sincerely.
Second, my calling. During the seminar lectures, we talked about the authority of the Bible and the purpose of the Bible. The message was simple but crucial. Reverend Lee said, “Use the Bible for the salvation of souls”. This highly resonated with me. I reflected on whether I had only been focused ondoing ministry and preparing sermons orif I truly had a burning desire to save the lost. With repentance, I resolved to use the Word to bring lost souls back to the Lord.
Lastly, doing all things to be acknowledged by the Lord. Reverend Lee shared that whether we serve one person, 10 people, 100 people, or 1,000 people, the important thing is that “we do it to please God and be acknowledged by Him. We should get in line with God, not people”. On one hand, I was encouraged and comforted because this is what I’ve been trying to do in my ministry. As I listened to Reverend Lee, I was once again convicted to keep my eyes focused on the Lord as I do His ministry.
It was truly precious to been able to meet with Reverend Lee and all the pastors who attended the seminar. I will continue to run the race with the mindset of John the Baptist who said, “He must increase, but I must decrease”.
