프랑스에서 오신 목사님 간증,

저는 제자훈련을 하는 선교단체 출신으로서 제자훈련에 대한 나름의 노하우를 갖고 있습니다. 그것은 캠퍼스를 중심으로 한 제자훈련이었습니다. 조직신학을 다루는 부분이나 로버트 콜먼 박사의 책을 참고하고 기타 한국에 유행했던 제자훈련 단체의 교제도 참조하여 나름 단체만의 독특한 색깔과 방향성을 가지고 있다고 자부합니다. 그것이 이 세미나를 참여하는데 크게 동기부여를 주지 않았던 요소입니다. 이 세미나는 송우석 목사님의 강권으로 아니 선택권을 강탈당함으로 오게 되었습니다. 그러나 그것에는 하나님의 풍성하신 인도와 역사가 있었다는 것을 어렵지 않게 깨달을 수 있었습니다. 첫 날 소명에 대하여 강하게 압박하시는 이종식 목사님의 인트로는 매우 인상적이었고 세미나에 대한 호감과 기대를 갖도록 만들었습니다.

이 멘토링 세미나는 우선 아무나 받아서는 안 되는 세미나라고 생각합니다. 왜냐하면 세미나 이후 자신도 제자훈련 한다고 섣불리 덤볐다가는 또 다른 제자훈련 무용론자를 만들어 낼 것이 틀림이 없기 때문입니다. 이 제자훈련 멘토링 세미나는 한 영혼을 끝까지 사랑하고 성경을 사랑하며 그 말씀대로 이루어질 것이라 절대적으로 믿는 믿음의 지도자 만이 이루어 낼 수 있는 예수님의 제자 훈련 방식이기 때문입니다. 그러므로 사명 없는 자가 이 비결 대로 하면 될 것이라 착각해서는 안될 것입니다. 이것은 하나님의 나라를 세워 나가는 비결 따위가 아닙니다. 주께서는 하나님의 나라를 세워 나가기 위해 다른 방법을 보여 주신 일이 없고 오직 너희는 가서 제자를 삼으라고 친히 보여 주시고 명령 하신 유일한 길인 줄 믿고 순종해야 할 것입니다. 그런 의미에서 본 세미나는 잊고 지냈던 예수님의 지상 대위임령을 다시 마음판에 새기고 머리를 망치로 두드려 맞은 듯한 충격과 감탄과 결단을 끄집어 낸 귀한 세미나라 자부합니다.

이제 다시 교회로 돌아가 무너진 터를 다시 세우고 들짐승을 쫓아내고 교회를 잘 정비하고 질서를 회복하고 교회의 존재 이유를 다시 분명하게 나타내는 일에 헌신할 것이며 그 시작이 곧 제자 훈련임을 알고 다시 처음 배우듯 차근 차근 믿음의 도를 배우고 가르칠 것을 다짐합니다.

이 세미나를 준비하기 위해 이 모든 일정과 재정을 준비한 베이사이드장로교회에감사를 드립니다. 제자 훈련에 대한 열정과 교회 개척 가운데 있든지 개척을 앞두게 될 젊은 목회자들을 향한 애정과 선배 사역자로서의 책임의식으로 자기의 몸을 다 내어줄 정도로 애써 강의해 주신 이종식 목사님께 또 기도로 뒤에서 묵묵히 헌신하셨던 김성덕 사모님 그리고 함께 힘내어 이 모든 일정을 순조롭도록 동역해 주신 모든 간사님들께 감사의 말씀을 드립니다.

UK Pastoral Mentoring Seminar testimony:

I am part of a missionary organization that focuses on disciple training. So, I was very familiar with discipleship training, specifically campus ministry. I also did extensive research on discipleship training by using reference books on systematic theology by Dr. Robert Coleman and other materials made by Korean discipleship training organizations. So, I am proud to say that the missionary organization that I am part of has its own unique style and purpose. This was a major contributing factor in my participation in this seminar.

I was pressured to attend this seminar because of Pastor Song Woo-Seok. However, it was not difficult to realize that it was actually God who guided me to this place. As Pastor Chong Shik Lee opened the seminar with a firm reminder of the calling of a pastor, I was very impressed and filled with expectation. First of all, I think this mentoring seminar is not for everyone. If someone who attends the seminar makes the rash decision to start a discipleship training program, they might actually instigate critics who argue that discipleship training is useless. This mentoring seminar utilizes Jesus’ discipleship method that can only be successfully achieved by a leader who fervently loves God’s people and the Bible. And the leader must have absolute faith that God will accomplish His will according to His Word. Therefore, those who do not have the calling should not be mistaken and think that they can be successful in discipleship training. It is not a secret formula for building God’s kingdom. God has not shown us another way build His Kingdom. We simply have to obey His command to go and make discipleship. That is the only way to expand His kingdom. In light of this, this seminar re-engraved on my heart the Great Commission of Jesus. And as though a hammer knocked me to sense, I was completely revitalized and awoken by the seminar.

Now, when I return to my church, I will rebuild its broken foundation, chase out the wild animals, restore order within the church, and dedicate myself again to clearly demonstrate the true reason for the existence of the church. And knowing that the start of all this is discipleship training, I pledge to learn and teach the precepts of faith and approach it with a beginner’s heart.

I am grateful to Pastor Chong Shik Lee who is passionate about discipleship training and has such a great sense of commitment to his fellow younger pastors that has given his whole self to mentoring them. And I thank his wife, Sung Duk Kim, who supported him all throughout his ministry with prayer, and everyone from the church who faithfully served alongside the pastor.
